I’ll deal with getting to the site first
Once you get to St Osyth on the B1027 you find a large brown tourist sign directing you to the campsite,
simply ignore the sign, and travel down the B1027 until you get to turn Right on a big easy T junction on to Clacton Road you follow this into and through the village and get to the cross roads just go straight across the way Haven suggests you use but they suggest you go to the site from Clacton on Sea, but how many people will go all the way to Clacton then travel back the way they came. If you do not ignore the sign you get to the cross roads as above BUT you approach it as a blind right turn with parked cars on both side on the approach which makes it very difficult with the van on the back.
The Site
There are 30 pitches for tents and caravans. The caravan pitches are reinforced
grass and the electric is 16 amps most pylons cover 3-
The site warden has his office in the block that houses the laundry showers , toilets,
Elsan point, etc and although I personally had very little to do with him when I
ended up in Colchester University Hospital, Stephanie has nothing but praise for
the way he helped her and our grand-
For a change on a Haven site the Touring site is well placed and has its own shop
and pub. There is also a dedicated children’s play area, although it is still a

The rest of the site is standard Haven operating regime – that is to remove the contents of your wallet completely. The site has entertainment programmes throughout the day so ensuring that holidaymakers do not leave the site and visit any attractions locally and in fact there are very few other places worthy of a visit except, the Martello tower at the end of the Point Clear Road where the site is situated, which houses an aviation museum, the tower was an observation point during the war. Clacton on Sea which is almost 4 miles away and the Redwings Horse Sanctuary, whilst most other attractions are over 10 miles away.
The site itself offers Golf and Carp fishing (money required), swimming pools with lots to do for the kids (money required) there is football coaching (money required). Pedal powered carts for 2/3/4/or 6 (money required). In the evening to get to the “family entertainment” you obviously follow the yellow brick road through the amusements to get to the shows and bingo (wallets keel over and die at bar prices over £3 a pint). There are the usual “Zoo Troop” bits for the kids which continue to cost more and more each year as they bring out more things this years addition being LED lit rings, bangles and toys.
These are some sites my friends and I have visited over the years and either like or dislike
These are not adverts for sites you cannot book them via this website
